Obama said something tonight that I'm not even sure *he* understands in terms of importance. He said that if we knew the location of key terrorists in Pakistan (such as bin Laden), and Pakistan was reluctant to act, he would order a strike in Pakistan.
McCain quickly attacked him for political naivete, saying that you just don't "say" that kind of stuff. Instead, he implied, you send your black ops forces to take care of it quietly.
This is exactly the kind of thinking we do not need in the White House. Defeating Islamic terrorism doesn't just mean having the will to send forces wherever they lurk. Both parties, I'm sure, are willing to send the invisible special forces to do the work of the nation where it's interests are threatened.
Defeating Islamic terrorism also means *standing up* to them. That means that we do not kill them quietly in the still of the night, denying any action on our part. These are the acts of political cowards who are not morally strong enough to stand up and say firmly, "We don't care if you ARE our ally, if you don't deal with terrorism, WE WILL." Standing up for freedom means proudly declaring that our free existence is a worthy goal that we are willing to fight for, even if that means fighting our so-called allies who take our money with one hand and fund terrorism with the other.
In this debate, Obama wins.
